couple of hours searching for the 17-year-old brian glen. he was last seen atef is a.m. on monday in the parking lot where he is a senior. then at the fairfax circle dunkin doughnuts around 8 in the morning and that is where the trail goes cold. the police brought bloodhounds to the park where his car was found and in this parking lot next to the baseball field. they called in a helicopter earlier to in the search. glen's family is worried. >> we learned this later on in night when he didn't come home for football practice and had missed all of the school and football practice as well. and fairfax city police found his vehicle, the little league baseball field on picket road early in the morning tuesday morning. >> the vehicle was found to apparently -- and that was

found by fairfax city police. we had injured the vehicle that was missing and that was found empty. at this point, police are not investigating this as suspicious; however, it's an unusual case given the context of the young man and his situation. it's unusual. >> reporter: again, fairfax county and city police are working together this evening, trying to find a missing woodson high school senior. brian glen has been missing since early monday morning when he dropped his brother off at school. we'll stay on top of the story and give you information as it develops. live in fairfax, karen gray houston, fox 5 news. tom? >> can't imagine what the parents are going through now. thank you, karen. >> exactly. another teenager assaulted in springfield, virginia, and police are investigating whether the attack is linked to several others -- others. a 15-year-old girl was walking on hibley avenue around 7:15

last night when someone grabbed her from behind and fondled her. she was able to get away and that happens to be the fourth similar attack in the springfield area in the last month. each time, the suand -- suspect is described as have a black close beard and wearing a ball cap. a car hit two montgomery high school students this morning on the annual walk-to- school day. it happened in east randolph spring. the car jumped the curb hitting the 16-year-old girl and, excuse me, 16-year-old girl and 18-year-old boy, both students at spring brook high school. they're ex-- all expected to survive. no word what caused the driver to lose control. another big story we're following tonight, a veteran d.c. cop filed a multimillion lawsuit claiming he was assaulted while offduty by two prince georges county police ofcers. richard merit said the officers beat him with their fist and broke his leg outside of the fairmont heights restaurant

last weekend. paul wagner joins us with a closer look at this, paul. >> reporter: he was so upset over what happened on sheriff road last saturday afternoon, he wasted no time in hiring a lawyer and hittings version of events into a civil suit during his encounter with police. an encounter with two different versions. richard merit said he stopped by the ebony inn before picking up food and driving home to watch the son play football on tv. as he was standing outside talking with friends, two county police officers rolled up in marked cruisers and ordered everyone on the ground. >> when one officer approached, i identified myself as an officer and that i was armed. at the time he was on the phone, he attempted to snap the phone from my hand. i put the phone away so he could not snatch it and he then pushed me. after he pushed me, i turned to him and said i told you i'm an

officer and i'm armed and if you hurt me, i will sue you. >> reporter: the officers grabbed him and tried to put him on the ground. >> they jumped on my back and punched me several times in the face, they batoned me and tried to force me to the ground. >> reporter: they broke his left foot while using the baton and for reasons, he said, still unknown. >> i have hearsay, just hearsay. i heard they were coming on the lot to look for someone else and happened that i was standing around. the paperwork doesn't reflect that they were there looking for someone else. it said they were on routine patrol in the area and that is an area of high crime. >> reporter: as you might imagine, prince georges county police have a different version of events. according to the document, they said richard merit ignored their orders to get up against the wall to interview him, instead, talking on a phone and he told the officers, quote, i'm drinking at a private property. i'm not doing anything wrong. i will sue you.

the court document said that meritwas drinking whiskey and there is no mention of his claim that he identified himself as a police officer. instead, the document said that the officers noticed a bulge in his waistband and were concerned he was armed. when merritt ignored their orders, they used knee strikes and pain compliance techniques to get him down he was charged with having an open container of alcohol, resisting arrest, and failure to obey a lawful order. richard merit said most, if not all of the encounter, was captured on the dashboard cameras mounted in the cruisers and describes what the officers did as, quote, corrupt. the 23-year veteran has been placed on what is called a non- contact status with d.c. police and his police powers have been revoked. will. >> as you said, paul, two very different versions here. thank you. a former prince georges county official is the latest to go down for a scandal. he has been sentenced to 18

months in prison on corruption charges. he was a deputy fire chief withifies to real estate developers and pleaded guilty last year to extortion and tax evasion in connection with development deals. it's a big night in the race for the white house. president obama and mitt romney will face off the first time in a nationally televised presidential debate. it will give voters a chance to size up both candidates. craig bosswell lee with all of the details. craig? >> reporter: good evening to you, shawn. president obama moments ago wrapped up his walk-through and spent about 30 minutes on the stage inside the magnus arena and the first question of the debate will go to president obama. both campaigns have been downplaying the expectations, the fact tonight that stakes here are very high. the 90-minute showdown will be broken down into six 15-minute segments.

david smallwood: maryland money needs to stay in maryland. it's just that simple, i mean, it's a no brainer.

anncr: every year marylanders spend five hundred and fifty... million at casinos in west virginia, delaware... and pennsylvania. one west virginia paper calls it a "cash cow" for them. but its cost maryland over one billion dollars. money that could have created good jobs and... better schools for us. question seven keeps maryland money in maryland. david smallwood: question seven, i think it will be a... good thing for the state of maryland. . major cost cutting measures could be underway at udc. are they enough? the board of trustees approved a right sizing plan that would involve layoffs. the closing of the satellite campus and a major push to attract more students. fox 5s matt ackland has more on this. >> reporter: with the new plan, the board hopes to shave off $14 million a year from the $64 million udc needs from district

craft payers and to get this started, udc is asking for a multimillion payment. much of the money will be used for employee separation. as it stands, udc has over 6,000 students. its operating budget is at $170 million. city leaders say that is too much and ordered udc to clean up the budget. >> we hope that this will get it a firm footing. >> reporter: mayor gray is looking over the newly released right sizing plan as udc officials are speaking out about it. >> there is no question that we can be more efficient. >> reporter: he outlined where udc can cut. one measure would move the community college from a building on north capital to fist main campus on connecticut avenue. >> the total operating costs of

this campus is $8 million a year. the rent alone is $4 million a year. so, it makes economic sense. >> the other cuts will cause much more pain. more than 25 faculty and staff members will be let go and a study has been launched to investigate all employee salaries. >> a lot of that is -- salaries are folks working here in some time and some operating expenses and most of the initial reductions would be in the salary side. >> reporter: we asked him if he planned to take a cut himself. he makes nearly $300,000 a year and lives in a university-owned home and udc pays for his suv and the gas he puts in it. >> i am not say ago eye don't know. this is what the salary, objective salary survey is about. that is what we're doing. we have a wonderful and reputable fun doing it.
